Dixon Featured Speaker at National Convention
Dixon Law Office founder, G. Grant Dixon III, was recently a featured teacher at a convention for a national organization. Grant addressed a packed room at the National Notary Association convention, held in Las Vegas in May of 2011. His topic, Unauthorized Practice of Law. “The recent collapse of the mortgage industry was brought on by fraud,” Grant said. “Some of this fraud has involved notaries who, accidentally or intentionally, have been practicing law and exposing themselves to liability.”
The program was very well received. One attendee said, “Grant not only taught us what we were doing wrong, he showed us practical ways to do the right thing.”
Grant has a long history in working with notaries. He and Michael Closen wrote a law review article titled, Notaries Public: From the Time of the Roman Empire to the United States Today, and Tomorrow. The law review article has been cited in the notary laws of nearly every state in the Country and has become widely recognized as the authoritative work on notary public law.
“The work of notaries may seem like a small thing but recent history has shown us that even small things can be very important,” Grant said.
